Growing crops in space

"High-tech cultivation is nothing new in controlled environment agriculture, but some projects take the 'high-tech' notion to the extreme. Time Scale, funded by the EU and backed by European universities and companies, is one such project, taking vertical farming to new highs: into space. This three year research and innovation project (2015-2018) develops next-generation technology and concepts for life science research in space, with applications also for the land-based greenhouse industry."
