TIME SCALE student competition

Do you want to take your research project to microgravity? To feel like an astronaut in weightlessness? Join the TIME SCALE student competition; write an outline of an ESA Fly Your Thesis! application and receive help from the TIME SCALE consortium to complete your full application for a parabolic flight.

The TIME SCALE project encourages students to participate in space research. The Education Office of the European Space Agency (ESA) offers the Fly Your Thesis! programme to master and PhD students. Fly Your Thesis! represents a possibility for students of taking scientific experiments and technological research to microgravity conditions during parabolic flights on board the Airbus Zero-G airplane. The TIME SCALE project promotes this opportunity and invites master and PhD students to write outlines of Fly Your Thesis! applications. The student group with the best outline will receive help from the TIME SCALE consortium to complete their full Fly Your Thesis! application to ESA Education Office.

Student events

TIME SCALE invites students to events at universities in Stuttgart (Germany), Wageningen (the Netherlands) and Trondheim (Norway), with information about space exploration and the International Space Station, life science in microgravity and the TIME SCALE project. The events will also include information about possibilities for student projects and invite students to join the TIME SCALE student competition.

TIME SCALE student events:

Participation at the student events are not mandatory for joining the TIME SCALE student competition, which is open to European master and PhD students eligible to apply to Fly Your Thesis!.

The TIME SCALE student competition is hosted by the TIME SCALE consortium, in cooperation with ESA Education Office. However, ESA Education Office is not responsible for this TIME SCALE activtiy, and the TIME SCALE student competition is dependent on the official call for Fly Your Thesis! applications from ESA Education Office. The winning team of the TIME SCALE competition is offered help by the TIME SCALE consortium to complete a full Fly Your Thesis! application (in the form of consultancy), but competes on the same level as other student groups applying for the Fly Your Thesis! program. All student groups are free to submit full applications to Fly Your Thesis!, irrespectively of joining the TIME SCALE competition or not, and irrespectively of the results in this competition.
